It helped a lot for the commoner. It was a free state but other territories were made so people can have a fresh start, unfortunately a lot of the territories were pro-slavery territories. Alot of americans moved to these territories.
Fugitive Slave Act.
People who helped fugitive slaves were put in jail for half a year and fined $1,000. The Fugitives could not testify. The northerners disproved of commissioners high prices.
Anti-Slavery literature
Harriet Beecher wrote a book about the crises of slavery. It had 2 million sales. People know this book as the book that created2 million abonisholist.
Kansas-Nebraska act
This act decided to split the louisiana territory and allow the people who live there to decide whether its a pro or anti slavery. This eliminated the 36 30 line.
